At Ben Stokes Marketing we have devised a step by step method of designing your new site in the most professional way possible in today market place. Our services spread across the whole of the UK including Market Drayton
We are now covering web design in Market Drayton.
Step one
The consultation
It may seem like stating the obvious, but we start by determining the goal of your web site. This will help you assess the scope, complexity, and cost of your new project. You wouldn't believe how many people we have worked with who want a web site, but can't answer the question "Why?" For them, the compelling reason seems to be "as everyone else has one." we recomend you sit down with us so we can define what you hope and will achieve from your web site before you plunge into the design phase. Many web sites are intended primarily as advertising, basicly getting you a presence on the internet. Do you plan to actually do business over the Net? Take orders and close sales, such as a ecommerce website? This will require a more sophisticated site, and security will be an issue. Will you use your web site for ongoing customer service and support? Do you have PR concerns that need to be addressed? What about long-term plans? Will you eventually require an Intranet (web site internal to your organization)? Will you require catchment of your clients details?
A domain name will be needed to be purchased, the site will be needed to be hosted. You will need to decide who will manage and maintaine your web site, will you require Ben Stokes Marketing to do this or will you do this in house?
Step two
Plan of site
We then Plan the site carefully. Again, it may seem like stating the obvious, but lack of planning is the reason behind many bad sites. Only once we have seen the client will we take out a pad of paper and sit back thoughtfully with pen in hand. Storyboard your web site. Plan it on paper. Draw flow-charts. Figure out how people will interact with the site, what information they'll want to see first, what path they'll follow through your site. Where the sites links will go.
Unless your site is designed primarily for entertainment or targets the 15-24 demographic, avoid Flash coding effects. Resist the urge to use technology for technology's sake. If you're serious about communicating with the people who visit your site, avoid the temptation to use gadgets and dancing charecters. These tend to draw your viewer away from what they should be looking at and will only confuse your potentual customer.
Step three
Design Site
We will then work on a design for your site and locate any images needed, unless provided by the client, the design will be checked by the client for aproval. Once we have aproval we will start on coding the web site.
Step four
Test
Test, test, test. We then Test your website once live on different computers, at different screen resolutions, with different browsers. Macs vs. PCs. SVGA resolution vs. VGA resolution. Firefox vs. Explorer.
